The MSL Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids overcame a fine performance by MSL St Louis right fielder Francisco Rodríguez to defeat the Coeur, 11-8, at MSL St. Louis Ballpark. Rodríguez went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 7 runs. MSL Northern Virginia, at 21-26, holds down 8th place in the PL MSL.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Rainbow Mermaids sent teenager Chi-yong Ku to the plate against Coeur hurler Kullervo Koistinen. With a runner on 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-2 fastball to score 1.

"We came out aggressive," said Rainbow Mermaids manager Jaime Torres. "We came out swinging the bats."
