Fontanez on Fire, 5-for-5 Against MSL St Louis
|
Even as a kid, Alonso Fontanez said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At MSL Hollywood Ballpark today, Fontanez showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 17-year-old catcher had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the MSL Hollywood Shredders, helping his team knock off the MSL St Louis Coeur by a score of 11-4.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Alonso Fontanez singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
Fontanez on the season is hitting .355 with no home runs. His stats include 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
