Shockers Handle Beavers, 5-2
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Surprise Shockers and Northwest Territory Beavers came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Surprise right fielder Kunitaro Takahashi played a vital role in his team's 5-2 triumph over Northwest Territory. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk for Surprise. Reliever Enrique Germán picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Júlio Gamboa took the loss. Waleliano Girawheen recorded the save for Surprise, his 5th of the season.
Surprise grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Takahashi hit a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season put the Shockers out in front, 3-2.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Takahashi told the Surprise Chronicle.
Surprise is in 4th place in the Menard's Low A with a record of 52-39.
