The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople got a sterling performance from pitcher Wan-ling Hui, but the Franklin Fire still prevailed, 2-1. Hui threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Bartold Nuijs notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 4.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. Picking up the save was Chan-seok Yi, his 14th.
Theodore Daniels, the 18-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Daniels contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Franklin up, 2-1.
Afterward, Fire manager Rafael Villalobos was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Fire saw their win-loss record go to 35-38. At the same time, the Snowpeople fell to 27-46.
