Baby Lakers Edge Tigers, 2-1
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers had to overcome a fine effort from Twinsburg pitcher Leo Clark to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Field of the Browns. Clark went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Bompton reliever Freddy Estrada picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Leo Clark was tagged with the loss. The 6th-place Baby Lakers have won 4 in a row.
The Tigers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Baby Lakers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old catcher Mal James came to the plate. James hit a solo home run on a first pitch changeup from Twinsburg hurler Leo Clark. It was James's 2nd home run of the year.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," James told the Bompton Chronicle.
