Uruguayans Buried By Baby Lakers, 16-2
|
Bompton and Germantown took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Bompton Baby Lakers put together a convincing win at Ballpark of Albuquerque, defeating the Germantown Uruguayans, 16-2. Bill Pace was one of the hitting stars. He went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 5 for Bompton. George Hensley, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-8. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2.
Bompton used the bat of Ron Warren to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Baby Lakers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Germantown manager Júlio Aguirre. "We got the snot knocked out of us."
Germantown, at 21-72, has lost 4 straight.
