Warheads Beat Fire, 8-6

The Amarillo Warheads picked up a win at Lawmen Ballpark, knocking off the Franklin Fire, 8-6. On the mound for Amarillo was right-hander Israel Cordero, who played a pivotal role in the win. Cordero got the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed 12 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Cordero allowed 3 runs. Amarillo is now 16-22, while Franklin is 20-18.
The Fire had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Warheads going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old third baseman Jay Fuller came to the plate. Fuller hit a solo home run on a 2-2 slider from Franklin hurler Ted Bax. It was Fuller's 10th home run of the year.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Fuller after the game.
