Hensley Twirls No-Hitter Against Hicksville
|
In a dominant outing, George Hensley of the Bompton Baby Lakers totally silenced the bats of the Hicksville Hounds, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Baby Lakers' 3-0 victory, Hensley faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 8 strikeouts and no walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Bompton manager Vernon Anderson said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Oliver Burrell had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Baby Lakers had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Hensley pitched a heck of a ballgame."
Checking out his stats for the year, Hensley has racked up 3 wins and 7 losses in 15 starts, 4.35 ERA and struck out 97 batters in 89 innings.
