Interns Pull Off Thrilling 6-4 Win in Extras
|
The Capital Hill Interns had to overcome a big game from Surprise second baseman Miles Kranendonk to leave Shockers Field with a victory. And they did, winning 6-4. Kranendonk was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Capital Hill reliever Ramón Mendoza picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Octávio Ortíz was saddled with the loss. The Interns, now 3-12, have not found much traction so far in 2048.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Interns sent teenager David Correa to the plate against Shockers hurler Andrew Charles. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a first pitch fastball to score 1.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Correa told the Capital Hill Gazette.
