Rainbow Mermaids Knock Off Dirty Reds, 3-2

Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids got the win.
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids did just enough to sneak past the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 3-2, at Lang Park. Northern Virginia pitcher Javier Ariza, in particular, had a standout performance. Ariza picked up the win for Northern Virginia, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1.
Northern Virginia relied on the hitting of Eisse van Opdorp to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 3-1. For the game, van Opdorp had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Ariza.
The Dirty Reds fall to 6-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.
