Plattsburgh and Germantown duked it out and the Puffer Fish came out victorious.
The Plattsburgh Puffer Fish weathered a fine game by Germantown shortstop Randolph White to upend the Uruguayans, 8-6, at Ballpark of Albuquerque. White was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times. Ji-chor Ho, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Shuji Ando recorded the save, his 5th.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Yuki Nakahara came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Germantown pitcher Deviprasada Tirumalesa, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Plattsburgh on top, 7-6.
"I like our moxie," said Puffer Fish manager Wallace James.
The win gives Plattsburgh a season record of 14-11.
