Uruguayans Win 7-5 Walk-Off
|
The timely hitting of Antti-Jussi Sulander helped the Germantown Uruguayans down the Flint Crush, 7-5. Sulander was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 5 for the Uruguayans. Germantown reliever Víctor Valdés picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Pjotr Wiegel was saddled with the loss. The Uruguayans raised their record to 4-19.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Sulander hit a fastball from Pjotr Wiegel for a 2-run home run. The Uruguayans, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Germantown manager Júlio Aguirre.
