Octopi Win Nail-Biter, 7-6
|
The Ogallala Octopi weathered a fine game by Beaumont catcher Tu Che to upend the Crossbeaus, 7-6, at The Target. Che went 5 for 7 with a home run and 4 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Ogallala reliever Kung Yei, now 1-0. The loser was Takuma Ozawa. The 6th-place Octopi now have a win-loss record of 26-33.
Ogallala used the timely hitting of Dwayne Gunn to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 16th inning to put the Octopi on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Gunn.
