The Redwood Rhinos had to overcome a big game from Ogallala shortstop Jorge Gavilanes to leave Nebraska Aquarium with a victory. And they did, winning 4-3. Gavilanes was 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. Brian Ricks, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. Earning his 11th save of the year was Bob Powell.

Raúl Mercado, the 18-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Mercado contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Redwood up, 3-1.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Ogallala skipper Luis Muñóz, "and it cost us."

Redwood, at 29-27, occupies 5th place in the Premier Low A.
