Tula Come Up Short at South Beach, 5-4
|
The South Beach Blaze defeated the Chicago Tula, 5-4, in USPL Single A action at The Ballpark on the Beach. South Beach pitcher César Pinto had a standout performance. Pinto went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 5-7. Gustavo Carrillo picked up the save for South Beach, his 1st of the year.
The Blaze got a big at-bat from center fielder Joey Pinches. For the game, Pinches went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave South Beach a 3-2 lead.
"Winning never gets dull," said Pinches.
With the win, South Beach upped its record to 49-42.
