Fort Knox Tags Greenport with 7-3 Defeat
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Fort Knox Centennial and Greenport Harbor Whales.
The Centennial grabbed a win, 7-3, at Ballpark of Robbins, overcoming a fine effort from Greenport pitcher Francis Bumble. Bumble went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Fort Knox starter Francisco Encarnación was credited with the win after throwing 86 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
Fort Knox used the bat of Koji Sugisata to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Centennial ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Fort Knox manager Justin Saginov.
The second-place Centennial have won 4 in a row.
