Smoky Mountain Gets 9-6 Win
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus topped the Eugene Vandals, 9-6, with youngster David Bailey playing a key role. Bailey was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Hobeaus in the win. The last-place Hobeaus improved to 27-49.

Smoky Mountain used a well-timed hit by Graeme Wilshaw to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Hobeaus ahead, 7-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Hobeaus manager Hiroji Nakagawa wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
