|
Laredo starter Eduardo Martínez pitched well against the Idaho Falls Chukars at Hawks Field. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Laredo reliever Santiago Díaz picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. José Cantú shouldered the loss. Norman Davis earned save number 2 this season.
Had Jon Melanson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Melanson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Hawks.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Melanson told the Laredo Today.
Laredo is now 42-31.
