Chiefs Net 3-0 Win Over Hobeaus
|
In a low-scoring contest, Caldwell pitcher Jason Helms was marvelous in his team's 3-0 win. Robin Andrews, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. The losing streak for Smoky Mountain has now reached 5 games.
The Hobeaus had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Chiefs going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Javier Caballero came to the plate. Caballero hit a solo home run on a 1-2 curveball from Smoky Mountain hurler Aurelio Reyes. It was Caballero's 10th home run of the year.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Caldwell skipper Kevin Fields.
