The Caldwell Chiefs topped the Idaho Falls Chukars by the score of 6-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Ids Ruttman. Ruttman went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Chiefs on the day. Fernando Pérez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Timo Reinhardt was tagged with the loss. Yuan Hsueh was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 21 save opportunities.
A decisive at-bat came in the top of the fourth inning. With runners on 1st and 3rd, the batter, Matt Carter, reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It made the score 3-2, Caldwell, and helped them go on to win.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Caldwell manager Kevin Fields.
At 38-25, the Chiefs have a slim two-game lead in the Premier A.
