Hobeaus Take Down Tula, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring contest, Smoky Mountain pitcher Cenek Stensel was marvelous in his team's 1-0 win. Smoky Mountain reliever Gerjan Muijen picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Fatin bin Isra'il was saddled with the loss. The Hobeaus sport a record of 22-41.
Had Daniel Richardson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Richardson hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Hobeaus.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Smoky Mountain manager Hiroji Nakagawa said.
