The Ogallala Octopi got a superb performance from pitcher Javier González, but the Athletic Club KC U-21 still won the game, 3-2. González threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Athletic Club KC reliever Rick Drake picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Doug Owen absorbed the loss. Lúcio Colón recorded the save for Athletic Club KC, his 1st of the season.
Athletic Club KC used a timely hit from Camillo Scalfaro to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the U-21 ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Scalfaro.
With the loss, Ogallala drops to 2-2.
