In a low-scoring contest, Grand Forks pitcher Adam Harvick was marvelous in his team's 3-1 win. In 7 innings, Harvick surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Nelson Shaffer was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 23 save opportunities.
In the top of the ninth, Ralph McDonald stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Godfathers were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Nelson Shaffer made a terrific pitch and McDonald grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Pontiac comeback.
The 9th-place Caterpillars lifted their record to 39-56.
