The Laredo Hawks picked up a win at Pipers Ballpark, knocking off the Caldwell Chiefs, 5-3. On the mound for Laredo was right-hander Kevin Ashe, who played a pivotal role in the win. Dan Watson earned the save for Laredo, his 14th of the year. The Hawks sit in first place in the Premier A with a record of 34-22.
The Hawks got an important contribution from right fielder Elliot Banks, who in the top of the first punched a 1-2 cutter into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Hawks ahead, 3-0.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Ashe.
