Patriots Knock Off Shredders at The Hollywood Bowl
Despite a great performance by Hollywood second baseman Melvin Thomas, the Boston Patriots defeated the Shredders by the score of 7-6 at The Hollywood Bowl. Thomas was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Boston reliever Skip Walker picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Ratko Peric was tagged with the loss. Getting the save was Jorge Gil, his 2nd.

Boston used a well-timed hit by César Enríques to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Patriots ahead, 6-3. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Hollywood manager Bill Cheese. "But we decided not to take it."

The win puts Boston at 7-6.
