Hobeaus Subdue Idaho Falls, 3-1
|
Douggie Westcott never let Idaho Falls get something going. The Smoky Mountain right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Hobeaus to a 3-1 win. Westcott went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-3. Curt Finley got credit for the save for Smoky Mountain. It was his 11th of the year.
The Hobeaus got a big at-bat from shortstop Michael Nash. For the game, Nash went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Smoky Mountain a 2-0 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Nash said after the game.
Smoky Mountain, with the win, is 17-35.
