Tight Tilt Goes to Comets, 3-2
|
The Kent Comets had to overcome a good performance from Lake Erie pitcher Mario Méndez to claim a 3-2 win at Fuller Park. Méndez went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Kent reliever Gilberto Elías picked up the win to move to 2-0. Mario Méndez suffered the loss. Shang-de Rang collected save number 4.
In the bottom of the first, José Silva hit a 2-run home run. The 22nd home run of the season for the Kent first baseman put the Comets on top, 2-0.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Silva said after the game.
Kent, at 52-27, is 3½ games up in the Silver A.
