Arryns Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Yucca Valley Yellows and Lake Erie Arryns.
Lake Erie pitcher Mario Méndez did his part in helping his team beat the Yucca Valley Yellows, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Méndez, the winner, moves to 5-4. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks.
Sixto Gil hit a 3-run home run off Sun-ho Yang in the bottom of the first, which put the Arryns ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Gil had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Gil. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
With the victory, the Arryns upped their record to 41-33.
