Caterpillars Prevail, 5-3, Over Kent
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars overcame a good performance by Kent first baseman José Silva to knock off Kent, 5-3, at The Cocoon. Silva went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Grand Forks reliever Gareth Hammer was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Luke Robb took the loss. Grand Forks is now 32-40, Kent 49-23.
Carlos Gómez hit a run-scoring double off Luke Robb in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Caterpillars in front, 4-3. In addition to the double, Gómez had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll savor this win," Gómez told the Grand Forks Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
