In a close game at Hawks Field, the Laredo Hawks edged the Eugene Vandals, 4-3. Laredo third baseman Calvin Chappell stood apart with his performance. He was 2-5 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win belongs to Kelsey Conrad in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Tetsuyuki Ando took the loss for Eugene. Laredo, now 15-7, holds down first place in the Premier A.

The Hawks relied on center fielder Qing-lai Mak for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 15th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring double to seal the deal.

Mak said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
