The Pontiac Godfathers got a stellar performance from pitcher Luis Montáñez, who handcuffed the Levittown offense en route to a win, 7-1, at Pontiac Copperdome. The winning pitcher was Montáñez, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The win puts the Godfathers at 34-36, while the Blue Dragons drop to 35-35.

The game could have flipped with one out in the top of the fifth. But Luis Montáñez made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Levittown trailing 3-1, Montáñez threw a cutter to Hamilton Cook and Cook hit into a double play.
