Vandals Edge South Beach in Pitching Duel

The Eugene Vandals did just enough to sneak past the South Beach Blaze, 1-0, at The Ballpark on the Beach. Eugene pitcher Jorge Vázquez, in particular, had a standout performance. Félix Hernández recorded the save, his 3rd. With the loss, South Beach sinks to 5-5.
It could have been a different outcome for Eugene, had it not been for Jay-man Kim, the 21-year old first baseman . Kim contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Eugene up, 1-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Eugene manager Aaron Barnes.
