Yinzers Get 6-2 Win Versus Levittown
|
The Monroeville Yinzers got a stellar performance from pitcher David Cuevas, who handcuffed the Levittown offense en route to a win, 6-2, at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Cuevas, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Kirby Perkins earned the save for Monroeville, his 2nd.
With runs few and far between, the Yinzers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Monroeville came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when catcher Clint Cannon delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Damien Schmitt and made the score 2-1, Yinzers. Cannon went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll savor this win," Cuevas told the Monroeville Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
The Yinzers go to 22-34 with the win.
