Yucca Valley starter Lee tai hoi Chen kept the Grand Forks hitters in check, while his team cruised to a win, 10-2. Chen, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 10, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Yellows, at 24-16, sit in second place in the Silver A.
The Yellows got an important contribution from third baseman Kuniyuki Sato, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 1-2 fastball into right for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Yellows ahead, 10-0.
In postgame comments to the Yucca Valley News, Sato said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
