Losing Streak Continues for Torch with 4-2 Loss to Expos
|
The Niagara Falls Expos topped the Mancelona Torch, 4-2, with youngster Bob Hawkins playing a key role. Hawkins was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Expos in the win. Miguel Antonio, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Jorge Santos, credited with the save, is now 7 for 11 in save opportunities.
Roland Matthews, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he connected on a changeup from Myles Jones for a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season put Niagara Falls in front, 4-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hawkins told the Niagara Falls Times.
Mancelona is in the throes of a 9-game skid.
