Vodarsky Stars for River Rats in 9-2 Win
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Columbia River Rats topped the Niagara Falls Expos by a score of 9-2. Leading the way was first baseman Orel Vodarsky. Vodarsky went 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 2 for the River Rats. Elvin Olson got the win, improving to 1-1. He held the Expos to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Getting the save was Viriato Hembise, his 1st.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Lawrence Daly? The Columbia catcher had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the River Rats on top, 3-1. For the game, Daly had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Daly. "And not try to do too much."
The third-place River Rats go to 34-26.
