Storm Sneak Past Torch, 7-6
|
Getting a good performance from second baseman Wayne Baker, the Syracuse Storm defeated the Mancelona Torch, 7-6. Baker went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Storm. Syracuse reliever Barry van den Hombergh got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Tom Hancock was tagged with the loss. The Torch, at 23-35, have lost 4 in a row.
Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Liann-wei Wan to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Storm the lead, 7-6. For the game, Wan had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
