The Mancelona Torch got a sterling performance from pitcher Matthew Briggs, but the Put-In-Bay Commodores still prevailed, 4-2. Briggs threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Chien-shih Chen finished the game for Put-In-Bay and earned his 5th save. The win puts Put-In-Bay at 19-14 this season.
Put-In-Bay took a 4-2 lead on Bill Buchanan's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Mancelona pitcher Jorge Cestero in the bottom of the eighth.
Buchanan told the Put-In-Bay News: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
