Late Magic Gets Alameda 4-2 Win
|
The Alameda Airmen got a strong performance from pitcher Jason Kofod, who stymied the Kingston offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Mango Yard. Rich Cheyney notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. Ricardo Méndez got the save, the 10th for him this season.
Alameda used the timely hitting of Tin-jong Khu to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Airmen on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Enjoyed this one," Kofod told the Alameda Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
With the win, Alameda raised its record to 19-14.
