Ogres Nip Mariachis, 2-1
|
Olympia Ogres starter Mike Wheeler turned in a top-notch performance against the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Mariachi Band Shell. The result was a win for the Ogres, 2-1. Getting the save was Ramon Roodenburg, his 2nd. The second-place Ogres raised their record to 39-29.
António Taváres, the 24-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Taváres contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Olympia up, 2-1.
"We were in it," said Nuevo Mexico manager Kyle Bass. "We just didn't score enough runs."
