The home crowd had a good time watching the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis and Richland Rails get after it.
Richland Rails starter Arthur Corrigan turned in a top-notch performance against the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Rails Ballpark. The result was a win for the Rails, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Corrigan, now 2-4. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 6.
The Rails got an important contribution from right fielder Gaballah Murunga, who in the bottom of the third punched a 0-2 fastball into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Rails ahead, 3-0.
"It's not about individual awards," Murunga told a Richland Chronicle reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
The win gives the Rails a record of 22-43.
