Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks and Virginia Beach Whales.

The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks defeated the Virginia Beach Whales, 6-4. Doing his part was right fielder Arturo Collazo, who was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ft. Polk South reliever Joe Gregg picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Kevin Horton took the loss. Eitoku Tanaka picked up the save for Ft. Polk South, his 4th of the year.

Ft. Polk South used the timely hitting of Steve Covington to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Thunder Hawks on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Winning never gets dull," said Covington.

The 'W' lifts Ft. Polk South's record to 30-35.
