Mariachis Pull Off Thrilling 8-5 Win in Extras
|
José Rico left his imprint on the 8-5 Nuevo Mexico win against the Richland Rails. Rico, who is tied for 5th in the PAA with a .584 slugging percentage, was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Bill Mitchell earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Nuevo Mexico goes to 20-26, Richland to 15-31.
Rico had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 2-1 slider from Shinsui Kawaguchi, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Mariachis a 8-5 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Rico.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Rico said after the game.
