The Olympia Ogres picked up a win at Mariachi Band Shell, knocking off the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 2-0. Starting pitcher Andy Benson played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Benson, now 4-2. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. Picking up the save was Yun-fat Ju, his 8th.
Olympia relied on the bat of Jon Himes to get the win. The designated hitter ripped a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ogres ahead, 1-0. For the game, Himes had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Olympia manager Steve Ward.
The second-place Ogres improved to 25-17.
