Big Day for Thompson in 9-1 Whales Win
The Virginia Beach Whales downed the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 9-1. The hitting star was second baseman Tim Thompson. Thompson went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Whales. The Whales now have a record of 12-16 with the win over Mercer Island.

With Virginia Beach leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Thompson came up to bat against Mercer Island pitcher Yin-reng Fong. Thompson hit a fastball to left-center for a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Whales on top, 4-0.

"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Thompson. "I think we showed that here."
