River Rats Prevail, 5-3, Over Mancelona
|
Columbia pitcher Willard Wilhelm did his part in helping his team beat the Mancelona Torch, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Carter Bishop finished to wrap up his 5th save. Columbia, now 10-2, is setting the league on fire so far.
Orel Vodarsky had a timely hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out and the bases loaded, the Columbia right fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the River Rats in front, 5-3.
Vodarsky called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
