The Gulf Coast Turbeaus got a sterling performance from pitcher Rich Frost, but the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles still prevailed, 4-3. Frost threw 5.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Yin-reng Fong was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and no strikeouts. Dan Smith finished the game for Mercer Island and earned his 1st save.
Derek Tyerman put Mercer Island in front, 4-2, when he hit a solo home run off Roberto Vázquez in the bottom of the sixth. It was his 6th home run of the season.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Tyerman.
The win gives Mercer Island a record of 10-8.
