Screaming Eagles Lose to Whales in Walk Off
The Virginia Beach Whales had to overcome a big game from Mercer Island left fielder Derek Tyerman to leave Virginia Beach Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning 6-5. Tyerman was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Virginia Beach reliever William Pettersen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Mike Barraza took the loss. The loss drops Mercer Island to 7-6.

Neung-uk Yi was the walk-off hero for Virginia Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Whales center fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Yi, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
