The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis beat the Virginia Beach Whales, 10-8. Nuevo Mexico pitcher and Kingston, Jamaica, native Alan Mytton led the way. Mytton went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered no hits, walked 7, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0.

In the bottom of the second, Joe Smith hit a 3-run home run. The 1st home run of the season for the Nuevo Mexico third baseman put the Mariachis on top, 3-0.
