Nuevo Mexico rode a good effort from starter Kent Woods to beat the Virginia Beach Whales at Mariachi Band Shell. The final score was 8-0. The winning pitcher was Woods, now 1-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. With the loss, Virginia Beach falls to 3-4.

Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at Mariachi Band Shell seemed to enjoy watching the USPL Double A action.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Woods.
